A timeless hue and one of the oldest known colors on Earth, Indigo Blue is derived from the leaves of Indigofera tinctoria and Strobilanthes cusia plants. Revered for its deep cultural and historical significance, indigo has been used for centuries across continents to create vibrant textiles and art. This natural dye yields a remarkable spectrum of blue shades, from soft sky tones to profound midnight depths. Each hue embodies nature’s beauty, reflecting the meticulous process of handcrafting and the organic variations of its plant-based origins.
A rich, earthy red hue inspired by the earth, Mahogany Red comes from the bark of the mahogany tree. We source this material sustainably, using leftover wood skins from local furniture makers. Through natural dyeing, the wood skin imparts a spectrum of warm red tones, from soft terracotta to deep russet, reflecting the tree’s organic essence. The process embraces circularity: the bark colors our fabrics, while the wood stems are repurposed as firewood.
A warm, earthy yellow tone derived from the fruits of Terminalia bellirica, locally known as Jalawe. We utilize the whole fruit in our dyeing process, creating hues that range from soft golden yellows to muted ochres, embodying the richness of the natural world. Beyond its role in dyeing, Jalawe holds deep cultural value, traditionally used by local communities to prepare herbal drinks known for their health benefits. This dual-purpose fruit reflects sustainability and tradition.
A warm, inviting coffee-toned hue is achieved from cascara, the outer skin of coffee cherries. We partner with local coffee farmers, repurposing this often-discarded byproduct into a natural dye, creating rich brown tones that represent the essence of brewed coffee. By utilizing cascara, we not only craft unique, earthy fabrics but also contribute to sustainable farming practices, providing farmers with an additional source of income.
Tunjung Grey is created using Tunjung, a natural, organic compound widely used in Indonesia. Derived from naturally occurring ferrous sulfate, Tunjung interacts with plant-based dyes to produce soft to deep grey hues and solid black, reflecting balance and simplicity.
This green is a testament to the beauty of natural dyeing, achieved by layering two plant-based dyes; Indigo and Jalawe. This blend creates a spectrum of greens, ranging from soft mossy shades to bright, scenic greens reminiscent of fresh landscapes.
